2009 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year
Tahira Abdul-Rahman, BROKER amd CEO of Tahira & Associates Realty, Inc.
was selected as the 2009 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year by the Shreveport-Bossier Chapter of the
African American Chamber of Commerce. From a field of 8 finalists Tahira was announced as the chosen receipient of
this honor at the Award Luncheon on June 9, 2009 held at the Clarion Hotel in Shreveport, La. She was also awarded
the Mayor's Award of Excellence presented by Mayor Cedric Glover on June 23, 2009 at the Shreveport City Council
meeting.
"When I opened my business on November 20, 1990 I never dreamed that I would receive such honors as these. I humbly accept these honors In Memory of my parents Albert and Estella Moody, my husband Mustafa Abdul-Rahman and my son, Ishmail Abdul-Rahman. Each one of these beloved individuals plus my son Ibn Abdul-RAhman, my daughters Khadija, Safiya and Naeema have provided unconditional support and love in my quest for success. My other family members especially my aunts Martha Boone and the Rev. Mary E. Moody , my customers, my friends, my fellow REALTORS and fellow members of the business community have helped me to meet the challenges and overcome obstacles that I have faced as a business owner and entrepreneur.
I accept these awards with the belief that I must continue to constantly improve upon my skills, my business and my effectiveness as a business leader and REALTOR. I will continue to work tirelessly to serve my customers and my community. Thank you again for these awards"
